The main game mode takes place on a map called Summoner's Rift, which has three lanes (top, middle, bottom) connected by a jungle area in between. Each team starts at opposite corners with a base containing a Nexus, the structure you need to destroy to win. Most matches last 20–40 minutes. Teamwork, map awareness, and timing big objectives (like dragons and Baron Nashor, which give powerful buffs) usually decide who wins more than raw mechanical skill alone.
There's a VERY expansive lore behind the game, double edge sword because it takes forever to get through but if you like it then its seemingly endless with a Netflix tie-in show to boot. Very interesting story.
Top-down MOBA is definitely not for everyone but if it's something you're into then this is arguably the best there is.
